Foreign investors make a comeback on equity market

After disappearing for more than one month, foreign investors have made a comeback at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) after dominating the market on the selling and buying sides.The DSE market report shows that during yesterday’s session, turnover from shares bought by foreign investors was Tsh4.7 billion, of which foreign investors’ participation was 99.8 per cent.
 The report also shows that turnover from shares sold by foreign investors was Tsh4.6 billion, out of the amount, the participation of foreign investors were 99.76 per cent while local investors’ participation was only 0.24 per cent.
The market report shows that during Tuesday’s session, CRDB counter had 1,660 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 215 per share in 3 deals. DSE counter had 3,707 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 1,100 per share in 3 deals. 
SWISSPORT counter had 2 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 5,450 per share in 1 deal. TBL counter had 95,110 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 11,400 per share in 11 deals.
TCC counter had 510 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 11,600 per share in 2 deals. TCCL counter had 30 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 1,360 per share in 1 deal.
TPCC counter had 30 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 2,180 per share in 2 deals. TOL counter had 50 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 800 per share in 1 deal
During the quarter ended in December last year, foreign investors dominated the buying side by 95.03 per cent of total turnover of Tsh82.5 billion. However, on the selling side, turnover from foreign investors were 51 per cent while local investors participation was 49 per cent.
