Two-year Treasury Bonds undersubscribed

The 7.82 per cent two-year treasury bonds floated today by the Bank of Tanzania, seeking Tsh128 billion, have undersubscribed by about 25 per cent.
The auction results published by the central bank has shown that only Tsh95 billion were tendered against the offered Tsh128 billion.

A total of 100 bids were received but only 95 were successful while the highest bid was 85.7050/100 and the lowest bid as at 70.1110/100.
The auction results show that the successful amount was Tsh95.5 billion while the Weighted Average Yield (WAY) to maturity was set at 17 per cent.

The Bank of Tanzania Economic Operations and annual report for the year ended in June 2015 published mid this month this development was attributed to a decrease in both exports and imports.
