All set for the first Tanzania Zambia Trade Forum 2017
The first ever Tanzania and Zambia trade forum scheduled today will be held at Radisson Blu in Lusaka, Zambia.The forum will seek to engage and empower Tanzania and Zambia business people to venture beyond boundaries, provide networking opportunity for the various stakeholders within these two counties, but also this forum will seek to provide capacity building to local entrepreneurs from Rukwa, Songwe and Mbeya so that they can effectively be able to do business with their Zambian counterparts.
Tanzania Zambia
Trade Forum will bring together policymakers, business leaders, and officials
from trade and investment support institution, and national organizations to
discuss how to achieve sustainable and inclusive economic growth through trade.
A series of business-to-business match-making events will also be held over the
one-day meeting, allowing participants to create business linkages across
sectors between these two countries.
Among other
important things to be discussed is on the huge benefits of investing in
agri-business, manufacturing industries, transport and logistics including the
One Stop Border Post along the
Tunduma/Nakonde border as goods to Zambia, 35 percent of all cargo in
transit pass via the Dar Es Salaam port, hence the need for these countries to
foster their relations by embarking on joint projects to improve
infrastructure, transport and increase trade investment.
Amongst the high
level government officials leading the business delegation from Tanzania are
the Regional commissioners for Songwe and Rukwa Hon. Chiku Gallawa and Hon.
Zelote Stephen respectively. Songwe and Rukwa are the two Regions of the United
Republic of Tanzania whose Borders are shared with that of Zambia

agriculture (TCCIA), Tanzania Truck Owner Association (TATOA), Zambia Chamber

Zambia Trade Forum is aimed at nurturing trade initiatives whose ultimate goal
is to improve business environment, Increase business opportunities, formalize
trade, and strengthen economic ties between the United Republic of Tanzania and
the Republic of Zambia.
This forum, under the
theme “Strengthening Trade Relations and Investment
opportunities” will assemble over 100 key business players from Tanzania
and Zambia’s Private Sectors. It will include key policy decision makers from
both governments.
