services last month following an increase of inflation rate. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported
yesterday that the inflation rate for February increased to 5.5 per cent from 5.2
per cent recorded in January this year.
The NBS price and population manager Ruth Minja said the
increase of inflation was result of increased prices of goods and services for
the year ended in February this year.
She mentioned goods that caused an increase in inflation as
maize flour, maize, sorghum, bananas and beans.
When measured on monthly basis, Ruth said the inflation
rate increased by 1.01 because of increased prices of food commodities.
