DRC
commits to solve Visas issues encountered by Tanzanian Truck Drivers
Kinshasa September 5th
2016: The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) government has
agreed to swiftly address challenges facing Tanzanians in obtaining DRC Visas.
The agreement follows a meeting
held today in Kinshasa between the Central Corridor Transit Facilitation Agency
(TTFA) leadership led by the Executive Secretary Capt, Dieudonné Dukundane and
the Chief Operations Officer, Mr Sayiba Tambwe Patient and the DRC Director General
of Immigration, Mr. François Beya Kasonga.
The meeting was part of
implementation of the TTFA Inter-Ministerial Council of Ministers’ directive in
August to follow up on solving the Visa issue that Tanzanians encounter when
entering in DRC.
The main issue was the
disparity on costs of the Visa, depending on which border Tanzanians were
entering DRC. Now DRC has directed all immigration officials to solve this
problem affecting Tanzanians.
The meeting which was
facilitated by TTFA was also attended by the Ambassador of DR Congo to Tanzania,
H.E. Jean Pierre Mutamba and other DRC senior officials.
At the end of the meeting
it was agreed that parties should conduct a joint tour on ground as soon as
possible and resolve the matter once and for all.
Commenting
on the move the CCTTFA Executive Secretary Capt. Dieudonne Dukundane hailed the
high level engagement and commitment from the DRC Government and committed to
facilitate a tour on ground by early Oct 2016 to check the effectiveness of the
directive.
