Share of construction to economic growth slow by 300 pc

The contribution of construction sector to the Tanzania’s economic growth has dropped to 34 per cent during the first quarter of this year from 8.3 per cent recorded during the first quarter of last year.
The country economic report released recently shows that the sector which was leading during the first quarter of 2015 was pushed to eighth position during the first three months of this year.
According to the report, agriculture sector which was on the bottom of the list during the first quarter of last year, by contributing -8.3 per cent of the growth, became the lead sector in contribution to the economic growth during the first quarter of this year.
Other leading sector were trade (10.6 per cent) transportation (10.1 per cent) , financial intermediaries (10.1 per cent) and communication which contributed 10.0 of the quarterly economic growth.
